Pros: | Price, Performance | Cons: | None discovered yet | | I bought several 62mm Hoya HMC UV(O) filters on Ebay. While I have not done any detailed testing myself, here is a link to a seemingly comprehensive and scientific review of UV filters that corroborate the good reviews the Hoya HMC UV(O) filters are getting here: http://www.lenstip.com/113.4-article-UV_filters_test_Description_of_the_resu...d_summary.html
You will also find links to reviews of polarizers on this site.

Pros: | Great Performance | Cons: | Difficult to clean. Aluminium rings. | | For the price, these are by far the best filters around. I am somewhat obsessed with testing filters. I can tell you the multi-coating on these are amongst the best in performance on par with Pentax and Nikon OEM multi-coated filters (note many OEM filters are not multi-coated).
On the minus side, these are a pain to clean. B+W, Heliopan filters are so much better in that regard (but they cost sooo much more).
Aluminum rings occassionally bind to lens.
Try it for yourself, take a lens (any 50mm) point a bright lighbulb (not directly, somewhat at the edge of the frame), look for reflections. You would be surprised.

Pros: | Made in a 49mm model | Cons: | Scratches and dirties easier than Sigma EX DG | | I picked up two of these for lenses in my collection that use 49mm threads where I couldn't get the Sigma EX DG filter, and I can confirm the reviews on Amazon.
They work great, they're practically invisible, but they're way way way easily scratched, even by just putting the lens cap on. They also seem to dirty easier than the Sigma EX DG.
When you don't have a good alternative, these are pretty good.
