Pros: | Very sturdy - will lock into position for your focal length and stay there. Forever. | Cons: | Very difficult to transport. No built - in level | | I use this to take panoramic tours of restaurants and apartments for a few clients. I chose this over Nodal Ninja and a few others because of the geared head. Once you find the "nodal" point (I know there are a lot of people that disagree with that term) the axis of the head will stay put. Forever - really. I set it for my sigma 10-20 (it takes a little bit of work to find the nodal point), locked the gears and it has not moved an inch. For simplicity's sake, I stay at 10mm for all of my virtual tour work. But there is plenty of room to make taped notes along the gear to mark off nodal points for other focal lengths.
This head has saved me a lot of time and frustration (after a bit of a learning curve) and well worth the money for this kind of work.
I use a hot shoe level to make sure my camera is level - it is an absolute necessity to use this head properly.
