This weeks brings some exciting US deals on two popular Pentax primes! The SMC Pentax-DA 50mm F1.8 is selling for just $99.99 at B&H Photo, while the HD Pentax-DA 40mm F2.8 Limited is $299.99 at Adorama. These prices are 50 to 60% off MSRP and about $20 lower than last week.

The HD version of the DA 40mm limited features rounded aperture blades, better resistance to ghosting and flare, and a redesigned metal barrel featuring a red ring. Read all about it our HD 40mm in-depth review.
If you're looking to add a prime lens to your kit for portraits or just everyday shots, the DA 50mm is an excellent choice to get you started. It is affordable without making sacrifices in terms of image quality, and its fast aperture opens up new creative possibilities not easily attainable with the 18-55mm kit lens.
While both these lenses are marketed as "APS-C only", community tests suggest that both can be used on full-frame cameras.
