Tamron Lens Rebates for Pentax

Save up to $50 on 5 different lenses · 05-25-2012 · By PF Staff in Pentax Deals
Tamron Lens Rebates for Pentax

Tamron has just reintroduced 5 instant rebates for their most popular lenses for Pentax- while they're all mail-ins and fairly low ($25-50), any type of savings is still welcome news given the high Pentax lens prices.  Below we summarize the current rebates.

Summer Tamron Mail-In Rebates - thru 6/30

Tamron 17-50mm

Tamron 17-50mm F2.8

This lens is one-third of the price of the Pentax DA* 16-50mm, and optically better as we've found in our in-depth review.

Price: $474

$25 Rebate

Tamron 28-75mm

Tamron 28-75mm F2.8

This zoom lens was designed for full-frame cameras, but still works wonders on APS-C.  See also the Pentax FA* 28-70mm in our lens database.

Price: $474

$25 Rebate

Tamron 10-24mm

Tamron 10-24mm F3.5-4.5

The Tamron 10-24mm competes with the PEntax DA 12-24mm, and is $250 cheaper after the mail-in rebate.  It's very close to the Pentax in terms of image quality.

Price: $449

$50 Rebate

Tamron 18-200mm

Tamron  18-200mm F3.5-6.3

This all-around zoom is an affordable alternative to the Sigma 18-200mm or Pentax 18-135mm WR.

Price: $249

$50 Rebate

Tamron 90mm Macro

Tamron 90mm F2.8 Macro

The Tamron 90mm macro is arguably one of the best macros available for Pentax right now.  It is almost half the price of the Pentax D-FA 100mm WR, which we've compared this lens to in a recent review.

Price: $449

$50 Rebate

goldenarrow - Yes, the focus ring does rotate in AF mode.

What I want it the Tamron AF 180mm f/3.5 Di SP A/M FEC LD (IF) 1:1 Macro Lens with a Pentax mount. Then I'd buy Tamron. Right now it's only available for Nikon, Canon and Sony.

Luftfluss, did I ever say that I would not buy a Tamron lens? You should re-read my comment.

No, the way I tell them to make new lenses for Pentax is to actually TELL them I would like some of their new lenses for Pentax. I have emailed Tamron more than once to let them know I am a happy owner of a Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8, and I would buy the new SP 70-300mm if they made it in K-mount. The response has always been that they currently have no plans to offer the lens in K-mount.

It's sad, since that is such a great lens, and Pentax users suffer for choices in good telephotos.

lpfonseca, Edgar_in_Indy... so, the way to tell Tamron you want them to make new lenses for Pentax is to not buy Tamron? Seems counter-intuitive.

Although I would like to have purchased the Pentax DA 12-24mm, the Tamron 10-24mm was $200 cheaper, after the $50 mail-in rebate (which only took about 3 weeks to receive). I am quite happy with the Tamron. Their "squeeze" type lens cap even works more effortlessly for me, than the newer equivalent Pentax one.

lpfonseca [Delete] May 25th, 2012 3:08PM

Tamron is just trying to dump old stock. No more Tamron lenses for me until they restart making new lenses in k-mount.

goldenarrow [Delete] May 25th, 2012 2:45PM

Doesn't the focus ring on the 18-200mm rotate during AF operation? Some people might not like that, at least I find it to be annoying. Much cheaper than the Pentax though. Same thought as Edgar - why Tamron ignores K mount for the newest lenses???

Edgar_in_Indy [Delete] May 25th, 2012 1:24PM

Tamron seems to be boycotting the K-mount lately with a lot of their new lenses. If they really wanted to sell lenses to Pentax people, they would start to offer more or their new lenses in K-mount.

I do want a 28-75, but $25 rebate... are you kidding me tamron...
