90mm Macro for 645D Now Shipping

New medium-format lens · 02-07-2013 · By PF Staff in Pentax News

The new 90mm macro lens for the Pentax 645D ($5000) has just arrived at B&H.  To learn more about this lens, visit its lens database entry or check out this thread on the forum, where one of our members have posted some sample photos and comments.

Among the highlights of this lens is its built-in shake reduction, which is a first for Pentax.  Pentax's K-mount (APS-C) DSLR lineup features in-camera shake reduction, thus only making in-lens shake reduction necessary for medium format lenses.

I guess this means there's no plans for in-body image stabilization in the 645D Mark II?

Looks spiffy, and Im sure image quality is top notch....but $5K? Does it do my taxes or help with household chores?

Cyberex [Delete] Feb 7th, 2013 3:32PM

This price is too much for me for understanding...

Gray [Delete] Feb 7th, 2013 8:05AM

Nice, but REALLY expensive. These prices don't encourage change from Pentax APS-C to 645. Let's hope we'll see more just as good, but reasonably priced, DFA 35mm lenses to accompany a Pentax 35mm FF camera in the near future.

As far as I'm aware this is the first optically stabilised lens for medium format. The D-FA lens designation means it will be compatible with Full format 645 sensors, and the original 645 film cameras as well.

Optically stabilized...I predict this being a thing for new telephotos.(Maybe a Mode 1-2 switch, designed to increase the capabilities to use In body and in lens...probably wishful thinking)
