New Year's Photo Contest: Win a K-50!

Official photo contest for January, 2015

By PF Staff in Photo Contests on Jan 2, 2015

What would be a better way to kick off the New Year that to put a brand new camera in the hands of a talented Pentaxian? That's exactly what we're doing in our first monthly photo contest of 2015, which features a Pentax K-50 as the grand prize!

The contest theme is "Best of 2014", so browse through your archives and galleries to find that one photo that really stands out.

The rules and procedures for this photo contest are the same as our prior monthly contests. In a nutshell: anyone can enter, limit one submission per person, and only photos taken with Pentax or Ricoh cameras are allowed.  The contest will close to submissions at the end of January.

Good luck and Happy New Year! To learn more about the Pentax K-50, see our in-depth review.

The Making of "Autumn Colors"

Winner of the February, 2017 "Benches" photo contest

By vaksi in Photo Contests on Apr 4, 2017

"Autumn Colors"

My story is very simple. I had too many lenses to carry, and I wanted an "all round" lens for my hiking tours. I bought a Sigma 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM (Contemporary) lens and I was trying that out with my Pentax K-50 camera on a foggy morning in November on a passage on the north coast of lake Balaton, Hungary.

The passage was empty, and that together with the fog gave a mysterious atmosphere. I tried to find a good position to shot, which it was not difficult, the place presented itself!

In this round, members could vote for up to four of their favorite photos from among the 101 submissions.  A total of 362 members cast their votes, and voting was restricted to users who joined our site prior to the start of the contest.

Pentax K-3 Photo Contest: Round 2 Voting

Help us get one step closer to selecting our winners!

By PF Staff in Photo Contests on Jul 11, 2014

The time has come for us to pick the winners of round two of our Pentax K-3 photo contest!  In the second round, our round one finalists had to pick a theme by combining words from a list that we provided up-front.  Then, they had to go out and shoot an original photo matching that theme.  We saw an astounding amount of talent and creativity this round!

The winners of round two will be chosen via a user poll, and all forum members who registered prior to the start of the contest are eligible to vote.  You can vote for up to 4 photos that you think are the most creative and successful: remember, the appeal of the photo itself is just as important as the creativity of the theme and how well the photo matches that theme.

In the table below you'll find the 101 round two submissions as well as the theme chosen for each photo.  Click on any thumbnail to view the full-size image, or click on the description link to learn more about each photo.

Scroll down to the bottom of this post for the link to the voting page.
