We're herewith announcing our monthly photo contest for January. The theme for this month is "Food".

Happy New Year! The theme for January 2020 is Food. We want to see photos of food - that means the food that we eat! Pictures of food containers and cans don't qualify. Good luck!

First prize is a $50 gift card to B&H Photo, second prize is a one year forum account upgrade, and third prize is a box of photo paper form Red River.

Our November, 2019 "Open Theme" photo contest has ended and we're happy to announce and congratulate these winners:

In first place was forum member keithamatz from USA who captured "South Haven Lighthouse in Winter" (pictured above). This photo was shot with a Pentax K-1 and an Tamron 70-300mm F4-5.6 lens.

Our runners-up were forum member tungal from Estonia in second place with "Burning Cliffs" and Bogart from Sweden in third place with "Early Autumn Morning". Click on either thumbnail for a larger version.

I would like to thank everyone who voted for my photograph and I apreciate your support. I am an amateur photographer so I was really surprised to get such a positive feedback.

Touch of Magic

An unexpected touch of magic came along during the post processing when I realized that it can be treated as adventure with colors. Still I don't spend  a lot of time on it but always try to get satisfactory results, simply put I am trying not to stress but to enjoy it.

I think the photography should be about the "sweet" process of creating the photograpgh not about the post processing work.

That is why when I work in the field I always pay attention to the quality of light, sharpness and framing the object to get the shot the way so I do not need  a lot corrections, just a little bit of color adjusting or special effects.

But sometimes it doesn't  work the expected way and the shot does not turn out as desired like for example the "Almost September" where you in the original photo can see the LED lamp on the left hand side, lighting the Berberys bush (Berberys thunberga amiration). My photograph needed a lot of work to fix it.

We're excited to announce our monthly photo contest for December, which features special prizes!

As a part of the PentaxForums "100 years in 100 days" Celebratory Giveaway & Contest Series, the theme for the official PentaxForums photo contest for December, 2019 is open, that is you're free to submit any one of your photos as long as it hasn't been submitted for an earlier contest here at PentaxForums.

As usual your submission must be taken with a Pentax or Ricoh camera (film or digital).

For this celebration of the 100 year anniversary of Pentax (Asahi Optical Co.) we have special grand camera/lens first prizes for the October through December photo contests and there will be no specific themes in any of these three months! Good luck!

• The winner of first place in the December contest gets a Pentax K-70 camera body!
• Second prize is a two year forum account upgrade.
• Third prize is a box of photo paper form Red River or alternatively a one year forum account upgrade.
