I have a K5, but still very interest of K30, if use it with 31/1.8 lens, that will be a fantasy combination for walking around and travels, I love the color that Pentax given to me!

Hello,
I only recently bought a Pentax K-01, and my main lens is the Pancake lens that came with the camera. I've been using this camera for a couple of weeks now and thoroughly enjoy it. The pictures are bright and crisp. They do exactly what you want it to do, just the same. I've never had much experience with Mirrorless or SLR type cameras but overall I'm enjoying it so far. My favourite photos that I've taken are the ones of my cat! Finally, people can see just how cute he is! Just recently I have bought a telephoto zoom lens and hope to explore it on local fauna.

Dear Pentaxians,

My farther is a photographer and has sold and published many pictures in the past.
He traveled central and eastern Europe by any means possible, including a walk from the Baltic Sea all the way to Istanbul. ( about a 5-6 month walk).
All this lead up to me wanting to explore the world around me. I wanted to see the same two dimensional world and capture amazing breathtaking moments.
Thus I finally I managed to sneak out my fathers Olympus OM-1n with a Zuiko 24mm lens.
I loaded some very old black and white film still in his camera bag (use by date 1991 and made in the ZSSR) and went out for a walk. I used the whole film during a two hour walk and managed to take one great shot. Between some nearby fields i suddenly notice a tractor approaching, its driver was looking bored and tired with all the work he had done that day. I quickly fuddled with all the settings on the camera I was not too familiar with and took one accurate shot as he passed by.
It is still one of my best pictures. It has the moment, the grainy feel of old film and reasonable proportions.
I now have a K-r quite a good selection of cheapish lenses and plan to continue my adventures with still photography.

I wish good luck shooting pictures and winning this givaway to all fellow competitors !

There is no requirement whatsoever that what you blog about is made by Pentax. Also, keep in mind that posting your submission as a comment here won't do you much good ;)

If posting a submission here as a comment does no good - where does one post one's submissions?

I begged my parents for a 35mm camera at Christmas when I was about 15 (1983) and was told no they cost too much. I said then I don't want anything but money. I kept saving money and found a Pentax K1000 at Kmart. My parents were shocked when I bought it. I would save up money from birthdays or Christmas and buy a new lens or filters. I still have a great lens I bought for it that works on my newer cameras. I have since bought a new 35mm and a couple of high end digitals. Sometimes when I am not sure what the program buttons are going to do and I don't want to miss a shot, I fall back on what I learned from my old K1000 (that I still have) and go to manual settings. People laugh becuase I have a camera with all these buttons and still flip it to manual sometimes. Love Pentax, but I wish there was still a local dealer since I hate ordering anything without seeing it first.

I own a wonderful camera K-x. I have two lens Pentax FA 28-105 PZ and FA 100-300 and Industar 61 L Z. I like to shoot at no autofocus lenses, now I want to buy a pair of lenses from Pentax and luck to test them on K-30.

mblanc [Delete] Oct 22nd, 2012 12:18PM

Does it have to be one piece? If so, then I would have to say the Keystone Instamatic I got for my 8th birthday - which started the whole adventure. Second would be the Sears KSX-1000 I got when I was 16 - actually a Ricoh, but it introduced me to the world of Pentax. Third would be my K-x - it brought me into the DSLR world, and I wonder how I got along without it for 40+ years.

There is almost nothing I don't like about the K-x, but if pressed I would say the lack of weather sealing and all extra settins (Portrait, Landscape, Macro, etc) on the Mode Dial that I never use. The K-30 fixes both issues, and if I win, my wife, who does use these settings, would get the K-30, so it's a win-win... :-)

It's a fantastic camera - and it would definitively fulfill my dream to become a more professional photographer. Viva la PENTAX!!!

I have the k100, k20, and, k5... they produce great pictures... my favorite is the k20d I use it most of the time in studio beacause it is very easy to workwith, ecxellent with manual lens... My k100 follow me every were and all day long, its a small and reliable machine capable to produce great pictures. And the k5 is fantastic for landscape and low light situation.
My favorite lens is the da 35mm f 2.4 and the pentax A 50mm f1.4.
I whis good luck to every one.
Have a great week.

Lea Jones [Delete] Oct 22nd, 2012 9:31AM

My Sister in law has a k-5, and since i have tried it, i have wanted one! i have an old canon rabel, and can't wait to get my k-5, but i am actually hesitant and wonder if a k30 would not be just as good. Anyway i would love to win ;-)

midero [Delete] Oct 22nd, 2012 8:32AM

I first learned photography back in the 70s using a Ricoh XR-5 and a few manual Pentax lenses. I taught my daughters the art of photography using the same camera and lenses. Over the years I moved to Canon, opened a photography studio and spent more and more time doing photography; shooting everything from weddings to sports and news events. Due to some life circumstances I had to close the studio and sell all of my professional gear. The Ricoh had long before died but I still had the old Pentax manual lenses and a K1000. I went back to shooting film with manual lenses and loved it! I have since purchased a K10D but still shoot with the manual lenses. It has brought me back in touch with a thoughtful mode of photography with which I had lost touch. My Pentax 50 f1.4, 28 f2.8, 135 f2.5, 70-210 f4 and Bower 85 f1.4 go with me everywhere. My one concession to autofocus so far has been the 35 f2.4.

Thanks,

I have been using a Pentax K-X for about a year now have been working with kit lenses so far and found the experience very satisfactory but with the moving times things become better and better so now I am saving up so I can buy K-5 or K-30 and would purchase some lenses later on to bring out the things much better than I can already but it will take a long time I guess but in meantime I would keep my love for clicking going on with K-X...

Adrio [Delete] Oct 21st, 2012 9:22PM

The one piece of equipment that's been most influential in my photography is my camera (always Pentax and currently the K10).

BigAndRed [Delete] Oct 21st, 2012 7:46PM

I have been a Pentax user since the '80s and have many cameras in my collection of antiques.
Recently had a K10D converted to infrared and found HDR with my 8mm fisheye on this camera to produce some amazing results, turning ordinary scenes into distorted abstract images.

mulberrybean [Delete] Oct 21st, 2012 7:12PM

I have owned Pentax cameras since 1979 leaving a trail of just 4 cameras. Currently I use the K20D. I am a frugal photographer and have to say my favorite lens is the kit lens. I belong to several photography clubs and it doesn't surprise me that I am usually the only Pentax owner. In my parts you have to own either a Nikon or Cannon and my peers like to hint when one is being sold somewhere but then they look at my pictures and know that I'm doing just fine with my Pentax. I absolutely love my Pentax!

J3Photography [Delete] Oct 21st, 2012 7:04PM

I have been a Pentax owner of several cameras since I bought my first KX in 1973. All of my cameras over the past 40 years have been Pentax. I now use a Pentax 10D & K7 to do my photography work with plans to pick up a new K5 II sometime this next year. I would love to have a Pentax K30 to add to the mix....

Summeo [Delete] Oct 21st, 2012 7:04PM

I owned the K-r almost one year,I have tried many kinds of pentax lens, such as M50,M28-80,A35-70,F28-80,FA28-105,DA18-55,DA55-300, finally, only FA28-105 in my hand just as my walk around lens; It's nice to be here in this site, not only improve my photography skill but also my English;K30? why not?

waerola1 [Delete] Oct 21st, 2012 2:33PM

Just bought a K10-D on eBay. The metering for the Auto mode has failed. No problem, I just adjusted the EV compensation and shoot in the other modes. But I REALLY would like to win that K-30.

muskoka1039 [Delete] Oct 21st, 2012 2:20PM

I have been a Pentax owner for many years. Still have my Spotmatic, debating whether to trade it in for a new digital SLR. Like this site, as it gives me great input as to what camera to buy.
