February 4th is World Pentax Day, and depending on your time zone, it may have already started! This is an event in which, individually or in groups, all our members have the opportunity to go out and shoot and show ohers a part of their world. After your shoot, simply upload your top 5 photos to our collective gallery! This year, we will be making a book of the best photos as well.
So, to recap- go out and take some pictures with your Pentax tomorrow, and then upload them here.
For more details about the event, please visit the full announcement. Have a happy World Pentax Day!
We'd like to remind everyone that next Saturday, February 4th, 2012 is World Pentax Day.
During this event, we'd like to invite you to go out and shoot, as a large part of the community will do the same. Then, you'll be able to share photos from your part of the world in a collective gallery, and create a snapshot of the world through the "eyes" of Pentax cameras.
So, mark your calendars and go out and shoot next Saturday! Note: all World Pentax Day photos must be taken on the 4th in your time zone. Photos from any other day can't go in the gallery!
The International Consumer Electronics show is coming up: it will be held on January 10-13th in Las Vegas, and Pentax will be there!
In the past, Pentax has announced new compact cameras at the show, and with the recent discontinuation of the K-r and upcoming new firmware for the K-5, we remain hopeful that the event will bring exciting news to the Pentax community!
We're happy to announce that the next (11th) installment of World Pentax Day will take place on Saturday, February 4th, 2012, all day, in your local timezone.
World Pentax Day is an event open to everyone in which you simply go out and shoot, and then post your favorite photos in the special event gallery. Thus, in just one day our community can paint a snapshot of what the world looks like through the lenses of Pentax cameras for all our members to enjoy!
The rules are simple! The photos you upload must:
- Be taken with a Pentax camera (or a rebadged clone)
- Be taken on February 4th, 2012 in your timezone
- Have a filesize no larger than 1Mb* (there are no constraints on resolution)
Once the gallery opens, you will be able to click here to upload. We ask that you don't upload more than 5 photos. If you don't already have a PentaxForums.com account, please create one so that you can participate- it's free!
Our last world Pentax day event was held during June of last year, and it saw over 2,500 submissions. Let's beat that this year! Click here to browse last year's gallery. If you are a Facebook user, we invite you to RSVP on Facebook. If not, you can still follow the event on our event calendar and request an e-mail event reminder.
This year, we will be creating a special World Pentax Day Book- read on for details!
We are happy to officially launch our PentaxForums.com 2011 Holiday Giveaway, sponsored by B&H photo, featuring over $1000 in prizes for 8 winners! Through this event, we want to make your holiday photo gear wishes come true!
In order to enter, you will first tell us what piece of Pentax or photo-related equipment is at the top of your personal wishlist. Then, you will write an informative article (a how-to or a guide) about something photographic that you are experienced with. If you come in first place, we will do our best to buy you the item you told us about!
We will accept article submissions through the end of January, 2012. Then, our judges will select the top submissions and showcase them on our homepage. The most informative and most interesting article will be the grand prize winner (minimum $500 value), and the next 7 top articles will win B&H gift cards of varying amounts ($150-$50). We will collect feedback on the posts from the community prior to announcing the winners.
In other words: if you write something that others really like and that others will enjoy reading, you'll greatly increase your chances of winning! Be sure that your article is relevant for the general PentaxForums.com membership. We hope that you will not only enjoy the prizes from this event, but also enjoy writing the blog post!
Click the button below to get started! For your convenience, we are providing a visual post editor as well as a file uploader which you can use to make your post. Some examples of what we are looking for are found on the page linked below.

The expo takes place in New York City from October 27 to October 29. You will find Pentax in booth number 1101. It shall be interesting to see if Ricoh products will be featured side by side with Pentax products now that Ricoh has acquired Pentax.
