Is this a regular K-mount lens?

Here is a Ukrainian Arsat lens. It is a K-mount lens, but note the element protruding from the mount (cf. green line). Will this lens cause complications with a modern Pentax DSLR? I read somewhere that a manufacturer of a particular line of Soviet K-mount lenses, possibly Arsat, modified the K-mount in such a way as to render their lenses incompatible with Pentax DSLRs. I wonder if this could be one of those lenses...

I have not seen this type os lens, but I think it is ok to use it on modern k dslrs, the protruding part seems to be a protective cover of rear element .
but the simplest way is have it a try. lol

But it could interfere with the mirror?

If the protruding part is cut off it would probably work. As it is the protrusion will hit the SDM contacts.

Are you certain it's a K mount? If it were a K, wouldn't the cutout for mount lock be nearer to the aperture flag / lever?
I think it looks more like a Nikon mount.

Seems very plausible. I have a Soligor that protrudes like that. It will mount of course. But it is the only manual lens I have that causes complications with my K-r.

Yes, Nikon F has the lock cutout on the opposite side.

+1 That looks like an F-mount lens. The aperture lever is on the opposite side of the lock notch, and the lens appears to have a slight rim overhanging the mount plate.

Edit: unless that notch at the top is not the only lock notch, and there is another one next to the aperture lever.

With me that makes four in favor of Nikon F. There were a number of Russian and Ukrainian lenses that were made in Nikon F mount. Might the lens in question be an Arsat H 50/2?

Yes, all of you were spot on. The Ukrainian seller, however, has listed it as a K-kount lens. I will notify him of his error. The lens is 50/2, yes.

Thanks a lot.

What happens if you hit it with a hammer?

Hit it with a hammer? Do you mean the lens body or the protruding element? It's a rugged lens; can survive lots of beating, but not sure about a hammer...
