18-135 WR lens creep

Help, I purchased my K-3 with the 18-135 WR lens in August. Now it seems to have developed some lens creep. Any time the camera is pointed down, the lens extends. When I put the lens cap on, it collapses without hardly any effort. I don't remember this happening when I first received the lens. Is this typical, or do I need to send it in to Pentax/Recoh?

No creep on mine, in fact it is rather tight. Maybe one of the WR seals has blown out? When moving the zoom on mine you can feel air blowing back through the camera and around the SD card slot. Does yours do that? Can you feel arir escaping anywhere on the lens?

I have a 18-135mm WR that I bought independently (not part of a kit) from B&H two months ago and it does creep a little and the zoom is not tight at all as the previous poster indicates... Makes me wonder which behavior is the correct one.

After over a year of use, mine developed a little bit of creep as well. I actually have two copies and the newer one feels much tightener overall.

When I move the lens in and out, I definitely feel a "blast" of air. The creep is gradual, but noticeable. I doesn't feel as tight as it used to, but again, I have been using my primes lately, so I don't remember exactly how tight it felt earlier. But it definitely is not as tight as my Sigma 70-300

Mine started to creep after a few months of use, sent it in under warranty and they tightened it up for me.

Mine has creeped since new, I have shot with it in rain and snow many times with no ill effect.

Is that a sign of problems developing? I noticed mines doing that but the USB port cover wasn't really closed tight. Once I did that I didn't have the blast of air issue. I do have some creep still/

No creep with mine after three and half years, and the zoom is still tighter than my non-WR lenses.

I bought mine used... and it creeps. I put one of those silicone wristbands on it as a lock when I'm walking. Stops the creep... I've been considering sending it and getting it fixed but haven't yet got around to it. My free fix is working fine.

I second that. (Except the shooting in snow)

After 2 years of moderate usage, my copy only creeps when the USB connection cap is not closed tight enough, so the air can pass through the camera.

Ok I have to retract my previous statement. Apparently I was confused as to what lens creep was. I said my lens had lens creep because when I point it downward it is very easy to extend the barrel and if I point it upward, it is very easy to shrink it (obviously). But it still requires me to do something for this movement to occur. I assume lens creep is when the barrel moves by itself?

I did what someone else mentioned and removed the SD card cover and immediately I felt what it feels to have a freely-moving barrel! I could also hear and feel the air escaping. When I covered the slot, the barrel went back to being tight. This being my only lens I had no point of reference and so I freaked out thinking the WR seals on my lens were not working etc...
