I was wondering if my copy of the HD DA 55-300mm Wr lens has a case of front/back focus. I first noticed there might be a problem when photographing bird, and I was achieving better autofocus when focusing a tad beyond the bird with center-point af...

Attached are six pictures of a focus chart: 3 at 200mm, 3 at 300mm. The first is normal, the second -5 compensation, the 3rd at -10 compensation.

Tell me what you think - do I have an issue? What would you recommend? Thanks!

It looks like the +5 adjustment helps at 200mm. However, it also looks like the degree of front focus is minimal, so DOF should keep you covered most of the time in practice.
