Sigma 70-200 vs 100-300 focus speed

I have a Sigma 100-300 F4 which I find to be superb in all regards except weight and size. What a beast. But I just can't get over how fast the screw drive focus is on it. Way quicker than my 55-300wr.

I'm wondering if the pre HSM 70-200 EX DG is as quick.

I have the OS version of the 70-200 and it is as quick or quicker than the 100-300 sigma. Love them both.

There's a violence to the screw drive AF on the older Sigmas that's very satisfying. The 100-300mm is very fast, marginally faster than the 70-200mm and somewhat faster than the EX 300mm f2.8 (due to its longer focus throw) on the K3
