The best brands of lenses for my trusty k-x

Hi Everyone, I am a bit of a noob (so please be gentle with me). I currently use my trusty k-x, usually with my Ricoh Pentax-a 50mm 1.7, to shoot portrait and lifestyle photography. I need to invest in a few new lenses but to be honest I am not in a place to drop multiple hundreds of dollars on a single piece of new equipment especially since this is just a hobby at this time.

I wanted to see what recommendations that other photographers have for reasonably priced lenses. I am fine with a clean used lens. I am also ok with manual focus but of course AF is a plus. Although I am not completely opposed to a manual aperture I definitely prefer the auto option. More so that I can easily track what # was used in each shot.

I do plan on upgrading my camera to the k-3 (I think) at some point if that helps

Are there other brands that are reputable? Any ones I should stay away from? Any additional tips/thoughts?

Here are some of the lenses I would like to add to my arsenal.
50mm 1.4
85mm 1.4 (in an ideal world) or 2
35mm 2.8 or wider
24-70mm 2.8

Thank you for any and all advice!

You won't get the 85mm or 24-70mm for less than "several hundred dollars." For a 35mm, you can't beat the price of the DA35. You can snag a manual focus 50mm/1.4 for a good price. If you go with the A, it will cost you a bit more, but the M or K can be had for $50 or less.

You can get a used Samyang/Rokinon (same lens) 85mm 1.4 for a couple hundred bucks from time to time in the used market.

AF 2.8 zooms - The Tamron 17-50 2.8 usually sells used for 250-300 and the Tamron 28-75 2.8 for 350-400.

Primes - look into the DA 35 2.4 and the DA 50 1.8 (100-130 used each, are newer lenses and have AF) and the Pentax-M or Pentax-A 28mm 2.8 (50-90 used). The Sigma Superwide II 24mm 2.8 (100-150) and the Pentax K 24mm 2.8 (150-200) are also still reasonably priced for medium wides. To go even wider, the DA 21 Limited sells for about 350 or so in the used market (older SMC version, not the HD). For a cheaper somewhat wide angle there's the Tokina 19-35mm f/3.5-4.5 AF193 which I own and am pretty happy with, for the 90 or so dollars I paid for it. Finally, the Samyang/Rokinon 14mm 2.8 is there if you need ultrawide, it's super sharp yet has a lot of distortion and will cost you around 250-300 for a used copy (sometimes new ones also fall in that price range).

Some recommendations for a "budget-conscious" lens collection can be found in this article here:
