FA* 24mm f2.0 wit K-S2

I found a time-capsule mint copy of the FA* 24mm f2.0. Given my 20-40 Ltd., it is probably extraneous to me, but it was difficult to pass up a perfect copy of a 25 year-old lens.

Lucky man; nice shots to demo the qualities of the lens

Your 20-40 is now redundant

I recently picked up one of those beauties and love it, although I'm not giving her the attention she deserves...:-)

I loved the FA*24 but alas, too many times I walked out in the rain and I wanted a WR lens. I really miss my FA*24 though

The FA*24 is a very special lens indeed in terms of it's rendering character, different to the 20-40. Funds allowing, personally I don't see it as extraneous at all... You have a gem in your hands, a Jun Hirakawa design, with striking contrast and beautiful colour-signature, plus lovely micro-contrast and bokeh to boot. Shots taken on this lens can have a "look" to them.

One thing I enjoy doing is bringing just this one lens and go walking about in the street. On APS-C its focal length works out to 36mm, thus its the classic photo-journalism focal-length. By "limiting" oneself to one lens/focal length, it can produce a series of interesting photographic results, in this case further aided by this lens' special rendering quality.

The above is not meant to put down the 20-40, which is a fine lens in its own right, I'm sure.

Its a stop faster than the 20-40 limited. To me that makes it not redundant. nice lens

I agree with all of that. I had a copy in back in film days, but let it go when I went digital and have wanted it back for some time. With respect to OOF areas, it crushes the 21 Ltd., which I find nervous in that respect. I will probably A/B compare renderings between the 24 and the 20-40 soon.

No. I have the FA*24 and K-S2

---------- Post added 09-05-15 at 08:44 AM ----------

Apropos of KDFA's comments above, I spent last December using the FA*24 every day, and I can only echo what a truly great lens it is. I didn't know it was a Hirakawa design - that makes sense

Here are a few images from that month to whet Maktax's appetite. Most, if not all, were taken with the K-S1, so the K-S2 should give comparable output.
