Dfa* 70-200/2.8

I ordered this about a year ago and it came today. Finally. Anyone else get theirs? So far, holy smokes. This is a nice piece of glass. Worth coming out of forum hibernation for. I have been shooting a Sigma of the same ilk but it is soft at the far end. The Pentax version so far looks razor sharp at 200. It is indeed a happy happy day.

Nice, from what store do you bought the lens?

I love these typos that give us the most amazing lenses. 7mm to 200mm at constant f/2.8 would indeed be wonderful. (It would probably also require a powered exoskeleton to lift and have a front element to put the Hubble telescope to shame, but never mind that...)

Enjoy your new 70-200!

Adorama. They had a markdown on it before it was even out so i grabbed it then. Right before it shipped I received notice that it was going for even less than that.

Just a quick snap in the backyard. ISO400, 200mm, f/3.2, 1/500sec, at as close as the lens will let me get then cropped.
and there are trees, TREES! in the background. Can you see them? No. I love this takumar-esqe bokeh it delivers.
(and it's getting a tad dim outside)

B&H has this lens in stock.
I just placed an order. It says I should get it no later than Monday.
We'll see.

If I get this one Monday, it will be a long wait for me on k1 that will most likely happen late late April.

I can usually manage to pay for what I buy with what I earn shooting but I went a little overboard this year. :/
The K1 will happen but probably not until summer. That is if they meet their projected release date. I usually keep three working bodies and two have needed replacing. I replaced one and I'll replace the next one with the K1.

From what I've seen in the sample shots, the DFA 70-200 is pretty much sharp all the time. I am so jealous of you.

Yes, I agree. Its rendering feels like a screwmount-era lens; I have a 135mm Samigon that behaves like this. They never made a Takumar 70-200, or I would say they'd updated it with a KAF mount.

i had a takumar 200/3.5 preset that was soon deliciously smooth. then it was stolen. i seriously still cry about that. this lens, at 3.5 and 200mm reminds me muchly of that lens.
