Sigma 24-35 f/2 for Pentax?

Does Sigma plan on producing the 24-35 f/2.0 Art lens in a Pentax mount? I know they have the "scratch" problem on the K-1 with some of their lenses. That would be a wonderful zoom range on the K-1
Then again, the D-FA 24-70 f/2.8 is a pretty good choice...give up a stop for more range.

I agree. Given how much buzz the K-1 caused, Sigma might reconsider and produce more lenses in K. But as far as I know, they have not mentioned any such plans yet

Not likely, but depends on how much demand there is now for Sigma to release FF K-mount lenses now that the K-1 has been released.

They need sales, not buzz.

I wish buzz is all it took!

Pentax seems to be keeping up with the need for lenses to go on the new K-1. The 24-70 is a good example. So, why would Sigma even bother?

My local, "largest camera store in Texas", recently had a big weekend event with camera reps etc attending. The big ads in the newspaper were dominated by Canikon followed by Sony, Fuji, Olympus with Pentax/Ricoh having the smallest promotion (most ads through the year never mention Pentax). Canikon I am sure pays for a big part of the ad cost and certainly have the largest sales. Sigma, Tamron, etc are promoted as lenses for Canikon bodies. That is where the money is.

There's got to be a lag of about a year at least before Sigma would be able to garner enough sales data to see whether it makes financial sense for them to make more K-mount lenses. Although, it's not just the K-1 of course. The success of Pentax's APS-C bodies would be taken into account as well - some lenses do cross the divide between the two formats.

The 18-35 f1.8 really turned me off of the newer Sigma zooms I really wanted to make it work because it is such a useful range for me on APS-C. But i could not get it to focus consistently with PDAF, even after hours of screwing around with the dock (which is another trial).
