Pentax DA*16-50 f/2.8

Hi there!

Anyone with this lens that can tell me if mine is ok or it is time for a visit to the workshop.

When extented if grabbing the front and gently move from side to side mine fells really "loose". It move maybe 1 mm in each direction.

Is it normal?

in my opinion it is not normal. Optical elements should be strictly centered

Could be wear and tear to be honest. This has happened with my 18-135mm lens. Of course that one isn't built as solidly as the 16-50, but I didn't notice any deterioration in image quality.

1mm is not very much. Mine always moved at least that much. Are you happy with the images? If so, no worries.

Ok, thanks. Just never noticed it before and it just came back from a AF motor change so I thought they maybe forgot a screw or two

Mine is also loose. I suspect more than 1mm. This lens has been repaired twice already (once for SDM failure and once for zoom cam failure). Images are not as sharp as those taken with my 50-135. Time for yet another repair or a new lens? What other standard, wide aperture zooms do people have? Which ones would you recommend?
