DA Limiteds at my university's shoot

Used my K20D + DA Ltds (mostly the DA70) in a photoshoot for my alma mater last week. I LOVE the DA70! I'm using it more and more now. I used the DA21 only for the chess shot (which I really love).

The concept we (me and my photography partner) was edgy, intimidating, COOL, using hard lights, desaturated a bit and bringing out our school color which is green. The photos were printed to about 3 feet longest edge and are going on exhibit today (I'm so excited!). They look fantastic at that size, amazingly sharp output from Pentax.

We did a studio shot and an on-location shot per athlete. Here are some of the studio shots first. I'll post the on-location shots tomorrow.

Here are our university's athletes who are champions and of legendary status:

Swimming champion:

Tennis captain and champion:

Basketball champion, key player and legend:

Chess 5-year grand master champion:

Judo champion:

Taekwondo champion:

Volleyball champion captain and MVP:

Hope you like them!

Very cool shots. I like the martial arts pose picture.

FYI, it's your work with the food that's made me pull the trigger on a used DA 70mm...

Thanks! Haha I'm glad you like the food shots. I just had a few more food shoots this past week and I've got to tell you that I used the DA70 95% of the time. It's an awesome focal lens!

Very nice!

Completely satisfying images. Well thought out, and well executed. Nice job, Diego.

i wonder if 21mm and cropped to give 70mm effect will work just as well.

In theory, it would. You just have to have the subject at the same distance from you to achieve the same compression effect the 70 gives. However you lose a whole lot of pixels that way.

I for one try to get things perfect in-camera

These are fantastic! Completely professional - I could see them as glossy ads for Gatorade or whatever. Speedo might buy that first one from you straight away .
