Shipping fee to Europe

Hello.

Just have registered at B&H, and tried to get an estimate shipping cost for Sandisk SD memory card to Bosnia and Herzegovina. I couldn't believe that cheapest shipping price for cca 20 grams letter can be :

Priority Mail International

10-14 Days Delivery (Limited Tracking Available) = $51.25

Is that a right information? I usually buy from eBay and approx shipping cost for this size of shipment is no more than 10$.

I apologize for the delay in responding.

Your shipping / handling fee is determined by the parcel's weigh, destination and secure packaging. Value is also determined for insurance purposes only. All shipments comply with US customs regulations, which include a valid, accurate, full detailed commercial invoice & proper export documentation. Tracking numbers are available whenever possible.

Our shipping department is always looking for reliable less expensive options for other countries, but for the time being we believe that tossing your merchandise into a padded "Jiffy" bag with a few stamps and a prayer is inadequate.

Right now our options for internat'l shipping seem to be cheap or reliable and we're not willing to distinguish among small and lightweight but valuable items and those which are more easily replaceable. I know your small order might be no more in weight or size than a roll of film, but we're unwilling to gamble.

Thank you very much on your answer, but I still don't realize why shipping of one 20$ memory card can cost 56$. Sorry.
It seems to me that your company is more oriented to local (USA) market, and that's ok.

It might seem simple enough simply to put your cards into an envelope with a few stamps and hope the envelope gets to its destination eventually. As Chuck noted though, "we believe that tossing your merchandise into a padded 'Jiffy' bag with a few stamps and a prayer is inadequate."

We have to balance ease of delivery and cost of delivery with reliability of delivery. When we have to choose, we always consider reliability first. Both we and our customers need confidence that ordered merchandise, whether a memory card or a $5000 camera, arrive safely, intact, undamaged and on time. Both we and our customers need accurate delivery time estimates, accurate online package tracking and a speedy response from the shipper if merchandise is damaged or lost in transit. "A padded "Jiffy" bag with a few stamps and a prayer" simply won't provide any of that.
