My new to me K5iis died.

Just received this from a member took about 20 photos then nothing. It meters, focuses and the shutter goes off but the photo is almost completely dark. I removed the battery to see if it would reset something and I noticed there were only 2 metal terminals inside the camera for the battery connection. It looks like there should be 3? The is an open square in between the 2 metal terminals where it looks like there should be a third terminal. Can somone check there K5 to see if this is so ...Thanks Bob

If you mean gold metal pin like connectors near the spring inside the battery compartment, there are two of them in my K5iis.
Did you try to charge the battery?

What lens do you have on the camera?

Check to see if you have it locked on the A on the lens.

If there are only 2 pins near the spring inside the battery compartment thats not it. I thought maybe there should be 3 since there are 3 metal connectors on the battery and it looks like these is a place for another one inside the battery compartment. I tried with a couple different lenses and same thing. The battery shows full charge.

Ok I don't know what caused the problem I was having but I ended up doing a factory reset and it seems to work fine now. It had me scared there for a while.

Are you using an off-brand battery?

I meant you could try a reset, but I saw your edit above afterward.
Glad you're up and running.

Glad it's working for you now.

It might still be nice to figure out what went wrong, you could post one of the dark photos with the exif attached. It may have been a setting you overlooked.

I agree. I would like to know what went wrong. The thing is it really didn't take a photo. When I would go to preview it would bring up a dark screen and you could just barely
make out the image and when I tried to download Lightroom would say no image.
