International Peace Garden

On our East Coast trip last fall I spent a few hours in the International Peace Garden. It is located in North Dakota and Manitoba, in the first two pictures you look straight along the border, North Dakota on the left and Manitoba on the right.

This I believe is the newest building in the garden and is located in North Dakota.

For those interested, the whole series is here: International Peace Garden Photo Gallery by Heinrich Lohmann at pbase.com

Heinrich, great post and photos, if we enter Canada from the I 29 in the US and then head west into BC, how are the road conditions and would we have any problems with a 40 foot motor home towing a vehicle. You have intrigued us a bit to visit that area and the I-29 is an easy entry into Canada for us. Thanks Bob

Thank you Bob. I 29 north to just south of Winnepeg and take #1 right across to BC. Highway is very good, 4 lanes but not all is limited access.
Winnepeg to Calgary is typical prarie landscape but in places very interesting. Saltmarshes and bird sanctuaries on or just a few km of the highway. After Calgary you are in the foothills of the Rockies and 2 hours later you are in Banff.

Take care,

thank you Heinrich, that sounds like an easy drive and this year is planned out already, but Canada will be the 2012 highlight trip. We will have to get our passports, but plenty of time for that. I appreciate the help. Bob

Fascinating, Heinrich - I had no idea there was such a place. The images are wonderful - as usual.

Reminds me of when my husband and I sat on the same couch in the Cal Neva Casino, just after Ol' Blue Eyes died, in 1998. He sat in Nevada. I sat in California!

Thank you Jer, I knew it was there but never took the time to go and it is only 45 minutes or so from Whitewater Lake where I usually stop for a day and try to get a few bird shots.

Take care,
