Those are very beautiful, wonderful photos. By +48mm you mean an extension tube I assume. Would you mind sharing the F stop value and whether you use flash? I've been meaning to get into macro, (I think) I have the equipment but am trying to gather info on techniques. The images that get most praise seem to be all focus-stacked in PP. I am not willing to go that route as processing my landscapes is enough of a challenge for me.... I was just wondering if these excellent shots of yours were perhaps made with a high F number and flash. Thanks.

Thank you Tom, it's easy, just out the back door, no travel involved.

First of, thank you. You are correct, 48mm is the length of the extension tubes used on these. F-stop anywhere from f-14 to f-18. I have never done any focus stacking and don't really have any interest in it. All the images where shot with a homemade flash diffuser like this, courtesy of member "Rense" who posted the HOW TO a couple of years ago:

This is a great series, Heinrich. I especially like the 3rd shot, wonderful composition and sharpness.
BTW: I am also still using "Rense's" diffusor!

Wow, impressive! Kudos to you!

Also, I love your macro snoot! I was just pondering how to make something similar, except I was going to go with a paper towel roll.

Thank you Norbert, I'll have to make new ones soon, they are starting to fall apart.

Thank you for the praise Jer but it is rather much easier than what it looks like.

Thank you for the kind words, as for the snoot, whatever works, there are no rules.
