Chestnut gold

Chestnut trees in the golden morning mist.

Notice the sunray cutting through the tree in the right hand side!

I tried really hard to capture it.

You accomplished your goal. Good use of highlights without totally blowing out part of the image.

That's beautiful. Well done! Great composition.
And a nice reminder that absolutely lovely photos can come from the kit lens.
Personally, I feel so much more is in the eye of the photographer than the precise equipment used, particularly when it comes to artistic shots like this one.
