when I first moved to Brooklyn 30 years ago, many, many houses had statues of saints, the Virgin Mary or Jesus on their front lawns. One of the many ill-effects of the creeping sameness of gentrification is that a lot of these statues are disappearing. I always thought they were a beautiful part of the tradition of a lot of the old neighborhoods. I shot a few yesterday. Comments and suggestions are, as always, very welcome. | |
