Trip To Barron/ Achray
Lens: DA 18-135 Camera: K-3 Photo Location: Algonquin Park, Barron Canyon
Posted By: normhead, 08-01-2015, 02:33 PM

I believe it was my 5th trip to the area.

Heading out.

Hamming it up on St. Andrew's Lake.

Second day a visit to the waterslide and High Falls

Then a long portage into Opalescent Lake. We carried 2 trips about 1400 meters. That's 2800 meters with a load, and 1400, empty.

Then two days on Cork Lake

Then back for two more nights on Opalescent

Then a day out at the Barron Canyon.

Brigham Falls.

Cooling down before the last portage. On a hot day you can swim in your clothes, and be dry before the end of the portage.

Ten days on 3 lakes and trip down the Barron Canyon and the water slide. I could have done it in 3 days 20 years ago, but it's also nice to go slow and enjoy the view.

Thanks, these trips are tough on us old guys, but the adversity just makes the meals taste better and the social times more enjoyable.

Wow great times. The seventh shot, the one of the lake is gorgeous. The lines, colors, textures and balance makes it an eye grabber.

Looks like a great time, I just recently returned from a camping trip myself. I love the shot of the lake.

I think I'm too numbed out from going through 800 images to appreciate them yet. I'll check that one out when the numbness wears off.

I always think other campers will like these images more, I'll have to start a discussion on the topic sometime.

A serious contender for that "Serenity" contest, IMO.

Gorgeous images Norm, that looks like a real neat trip, the only thing wrong with it is that I wasn't there. One second thought though, naw, I couldn't handle the portages any more, as my doctor keeps telling me: as you get older...... Thanks for sharing your trip.
