Arkaroola

I spent a few days in Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary last week. This area of South Australia contains geology aged up to 1.5 billion years. Visually it is quite unique and I thought it might be of interest to Northern Hemisphere members.

Nice series. I hope to be in the Flinders Ranges in a week or two. Quite a bit south of Arkaroola but I hope it is as spectacular as your photos show.

You won't be disappointed. The Flinders are at their best this time of year coming into Spring. The wildflowers are starting to emerge and the birds are getting frisky. Daytime temperatures are in the high teens but still very cold at night. Ideal for those long walks.

Thanks Jerry. The bird is a Crested Pigeon and, I have to admit, is as common as sin in Australia. The others are a Tree Martin and an Australian Ringneck.
