Cedar Waxwings
Lens: Sigma 50-500 OS HSM Camera: K3 Photo Location: Middleville, Michigan ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/160s Aperture: F10

I was out for a hike and had a couple of visitors while photographing a blue heron. They did not stay long and boy do they move fast.

Two Cedar Waxwings but you really can only see one.

Here the other one is upside down.

Two very nice images of a very beautiful bird. Hope that your hike wasn't too long, Bigma gets heavy after a while.

Thankyou Heinrich, it was a long hike but the terrain is relatively flat. I brought along a tripod for the Bigma. I've come to the conclusion that hand holding it does not work for me.

Thankyou, yes they kept flying back and forth. They are so fast I only managed to catch a few images.

Great image, I hope I can get a few like that someday. I've seen them a couple of times, but never achieved a decent image.

Thankyou Norm the compliments are greatly appreciated. They kept flying back and forth to the same branch while I was concentrating on heron. Finally after missing every shot I just focused on the branch and waited. Once they came back I fired the K3 in burst mode.

Mine, too. I think they're one of the most beautiful birds we have.

Edited to add: Duh, sorry! Great pics! Makes me jealous because I've never been able to get this quality of shots when I've seen Cedar Waxwings.

Thank you for the compliments. This is the first time I have ever managed to get a photograph of one. Usually I get blurry shot of their tail
