More Highland Scenery
Camera: Pentax K-5 Photo Location: Scotland
Posted By: GeoJerry, 08-31-2015, 11:47 PM

A new group of shots from the Highlands, in the same general areas as the previous posts.

Another view of Rogie Falls, near Inverness.

An upmarket hotel near Gairloch.

A boat wake, taken during a light rain.

A highland stream, near Torridon.

Loch Maree.

On the way to Skye.

Awesome scenery well composed IMHO. I Like the rain on the water with waves too. 1 and 3 are delights. I think I could get used to a place like that.

It's really interesting for me to see other folks take on the scenery around here.

This is often just taken for granted, even by myself at times... in such fine weather as depicted in these images.

Rich, lush and beautifully rendered, as usual, Jerry. Your composition of the boat wake is marvelous.

I like your treatment of Rogie Falls, though I'd not call it "near Inverness" .

+5 on the boat wake as well.

It's that way. You live in a very special part of the world KD. For me that scenery and weather is sort of depiction of an ancient mystical land and reminds me of the Hobbit. You know, folklore and such. Our Celtic European roots.

Live here a while and that scenery and weather will become more associated with midges.

Thanks Rod, I always appreciate your comments! I hope I don't overdue this Scotland thing though!

Thanks plantej, it's easy to get used to. Glad you like the waves as I thought the pattern in the rain was striking.

Well, this being Scotland, I think we might have even been disappointed in blue skies every day!

Thanks clockworkrat,... I guess you're right there. From memory it seemed like it was just outside the city, but after checking the map it's further west than I remembered. Garve would be better

Come on! You must have less than 1800 now: keep going. You won't overdo it as far as I am concerned.
It is the birthplace of my fathers (a few generations back.) and this is the only way I will see it.
Any images of Urquhart Castle (just over the rise from Kerrowdown!) Duthil Kirk or Ballindalloch would put me in a good frame of mind.

Great set of photographs!
Scotland is one of my favourite, no my favourite country to visit and make photographs and your photos show why.

One thing though: I feel you could have made more of the beautiful Scottish light, esp. early in the morning (<6 a.m. in the Summer) and late in the evening. Brings more colour and depth into the landscape.

Great images that really work the conditions and make the most of the light (what there is!) . The last one is the real cracker.
