This lens was my first love. Looking at this recent portrait I took helped me remember why.

awesome portrait. she looks so full of life.
BTW: Like you, sometime ago, I almost got to the point of not using my FA43 enough and considered selling it... but then... when I got to shoot some sample pics, I was taken back by the keepers I got. It definitely stays in my kit.

I did conveniently forget that it was the ONLY lens in my kit for a long time (too long!). Still, though, this lens performs! Like you said, the keeper rate is phenomenal. I'm glad you're enjoying yours as well

I have a poor keeper rate with my FA43, but it has the highest "Frame" rate among my glasses.

Apparently, images made by my 43 hate living inside my hard disks!

Beautiful Keitha...

the 43 and 77 are without a doubt my fave lenses for the head and shoulders... Both are awesome wide open and this shows exactly why.

Too many of my photos hate living inside mine! That's a wonderful way to look at it

Speaking of, I have never walked around my house and considered which lens gets framed the most. I do know that I've been shocked to discover that a photo was taken with one lens when I would have SWORN it was taken with a lens from the opposite end of the spectrum. You have given me a task for the weekend! Thank you!

I was going to include a razor-sharp portrait taken with the 77 that I thought was taken wide-open, but alas - the photo in question was taken at f/2.2! I have to agree with you that those two lenses are great performers.

Thank you so much, Susan! I'm glad I took the time to update it yesterday (I am the worst at organizing and tagging my photos).

I've been away from this part of the forum to long. Seeing this wonderful portret presses home the realization that not having enough time to share in that wonderful hobby and craft of ours really sucks!

I like your style. The dark shadows and background remind me of vintage portrait paintings. It's refreshing alternative to children in front of white backgrounds.

How do you approach focussing in these shots? Centre point and recompose?
