Lens: Bigma &55-300mm Pentax Camera: K5IIs Photo Location: Saugus Ma.

Hi folks it has been awhile since I last posted here on the forum but I've been known to be a streak hitter. The hawk(Coopers?) was in the tree out back and then he flew towards me and landed on the deck about 10 ft from where I was shooting from.I keep my feeders stocked for the regulars but when he shows up the party is over.----charliezap.

The image with the "special" background is magnificent! A wall-hanger of the first order! Very nice work!

Thanks.--the original shot was hurried because I shot through the window and the screen was down resulting in a very flat picture. The effect was done with the built in filters in the K5IIs. It made the shot "special"--charliezap

Hey Capn - these are terrific. You sure get the best out of that 55-300. Impressive, my friend.

We have sharp-shinned hawks in our neighborhood, but I never get shots quite this close. Not that they don't visit our feeders, but they're usually not there long enough to get a picture. They grab their meals and go.

Congratulations, these are great.

Especially the last ones in this series really came out great Charlie. It does take some effort to produce results like this with the DA55-300mm on the long end in my experience, so well done!

Nice photos, looks like a Red-Shouldered to me. Great hawk, too.
