Emily at Discovery Park - Pt 2: Film vs. Digital
Photo Location: Seattle, WA
Posted By: alan_smithee_photos, 05-04-2016, 10:04 AM

In the earlier thread, https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/12-post-your-photos/319879-people-emily-discovery-park.html, I posted only digital shots (K-5 IIs). Got the film back yesterday and there were some interesting ones for comparison, so I figured it was time for another one of my "film vs. digital" posts. (Again, not really "versus" per se; both are great in their own way, imo. I generally prefer the film but reasonable people may disagree. )

Several of these were from the previous post (still need to finish processing the rest of the digitals) so forgive the redundancies, but I think the comparisons are pretty fun.

K-5 IIs, DA 21mm 3.2

K1000, Lomo 400

K-5 IIs, K 135mm 2.5

K1000, Voigtlander APO-Lanthar 90mm 3.5 SL II, Lomo 400

K-5 IIs, Voigtlander Nokton 58mm 1.4 SL II

K1000, Lomo 400 (can't remember which lens. could've been the Ultron, Nokton, or M 50mm 1.4)

Rolleiflex 3.5, Lomo 400

K-5 IIs, Voigtlander Nokton 58mm 1.4 SL II

K1000, Lomo 400 (can't remember which lens)

K-5 IIs, Voigtlander Nokton 58mm 1.4 SL II

K1000, Lomo 400 (can't remember which lens)

K-5 IIs, Voigtlander Nokton 58mm 1.4 SL II

K1000, Lomo 400 (can't remember which lens)

Again, really beautiful photography. Very enjoyable to view. Forgive the redundancies? The more, the better. Thanks for a great series.

Interesting series - I'm surprised that there's so much more dynamic range with digital compared to film. What scanner did you use?

I get everything scanned at my film lab (Panda Lab). They use a Noritsu.

Great work, as always. I always like seeing the comparisons between digital and film so count me in as another who doesn't care for the redundancy!

Beautiful photos of a beautiful woman. I love Discovery Park. I have found memories of going there when I lived in Seattle.

Seems like there is a lot more warmth in the skin tones in the film shots.
