Wide Open & Flat Out
Posted By: Kerrowdown, 05-05-2016, 11:43 AM

A quick test shot today "Pushing the envelope" already with new kit and old kit... my “Sweetheart” (SMC Pentax-A* 85mm F1.4) at wide open aperture and fastest shutter speed body can do.

Awesome, it would probably take a shot of Kate Upton and Emily Rajakovich having a pillow-fight to make up for all your travails, but at least the bluidy claymore can go back in its scabbard now...

At any rate, I'm definitely looking forward to what you find with the K-1--I came across a stray comment yesterday that averred it brings that ineffable "medium format" look to the party, but no doubt it will take time to build a consensus.

3D look with nice bokeh, what else would one expect from this legendary lens on the soon to be legendary K1 !

Can't wait to see more...

Thanks very much for your kind words.

Once I get a wee bit of free time I'll put her through her paces so that I know both what she's capable of and how best I can utilise her.

That depth of field is quite striking. K-1 (new kit), I'm guessing.

You've mentioned before...if my old memory is holding up .... that you use some kind of Canikon for your professional work. Are you considering using the K-1 in this area of your work ?

My first reactions are that I've bought a very clever camera and that I've turned off most of the cleverness already, to leave me with a basic manual full frame digital camera.

But that's just how I roll.

Thanks, wide open helps with that.

Your doing better with yours than I'm doing with mine, what day is it and did I have breakfast?

Often it's client controlled or specified, for me... it should really be all about the image, however might slip one in from the K1 and see if anyone notices...

Wonderful shot! The sharpness of the foreground with the pleasant bokeh in the background makes for a very interesting composition.
