[kengoh]Two Recent Nesting
Lens: DA*300 /Sigma 500 F4.5 Camera: Pentax K1/K3
Posted By: kengoh, 05-25-2016, 08:32 AM

Sharing 2 nesting shot over the last 2 wks.

#1 Sunbird nesting shot with K1, iso 6400

#2 the male sunbird with green spider in mouth

#3 posing for me to shoot.

#4 female sunbird feeding the chicks

#5 only got 1 feeding session by the male sunbird, 90% of feeding done by the female. Don't you think the male sunbird is prettier than the female?

#6 tried K1 in FF mode few attempts but failed to freeze a shot like this, this was shot with K3

#7 set K1 to APSC mode, the speed of 6.5fps managed to capture this series of shots:

---------- Post added 25th May 2016 at 23:36 ----------

2nd nesting - White Collared Kingfisher

#1 the chicks is too small, no chance to see them yet...

#2 shot with K3 @8.3fps

Thanks for viewing, will add more photos of this kingfisher after I've processed them.

I can't believe I'm the first one to comment ... everyone else is probably still speechless
The quality of your work is oustanding ... and depressing for most of us

Interesting you had to take the K3 for #6.
Thanks for sharing, Ken!

There's some mighty fine imagery going on here, I especially like the sharpness demonstrated throughout this set.

In the world of birds this is often the case. Males are more colourful.

(I noted, this is in contrast to the human species )

Ken, you make birding look easy.
Thanks for sharing these. K-1 or K-3, your shots are A-OK.

Wonderful stuff Ken. So glad to see the K-1 is working for you in most instances.

Sad to know that the nesting of the kingfisher has failed, no chance to try with K1.
The nest was attacked by a swarm of bees.
