The process of exposing and developing film is very satisfying for me. One can certainly understand why professionals have moved to digital, for reasons of cost and efficiency. For a hobby, though, film is quite a thrill (although I have only been at it for a few weeks, so maybe the thrill will chill).

You never forget that first image growing in the dev tray before your very eyes... unfortunately for some of us that was four hundred years ago.

Enjoy the thrill for as long as it lasts for you.

I would be interested in hearing how/when/why you made the transition to digital.

I was fairly late into the game, hanging on as long as I dare, it would have been about 2007, when I went fully digital with everything.

Started initially by client/employer demands for faster turn round speeds of images, hence the need to embrace the new fangled technology.

After developing and printing many many prints, I'm so glad digital came along, and saved us all from poisonous chemical fumes

Good point! I have taken a cue from former chemistry instructors and I wear gloves and a mask when dealing with the chemicals.
