8. The crowds after about 9am were insane. Rather than worry about that, I chose to use them as a backdrop!
[IMG][/IMG]

9. Conveniently placed tourists give you an idea of the scale of the mountains.

10. This sign, warning about injuries and fatalities, didn't keep tourists from doing... (see next photo)...

17. It was hot! But really cooled off at night.

Hope you enjoyed the series!

Excellent! Thanks a lot! Your first two pictures along with the caption are a good illustration for the Darwin awards

Thanks for commenting. I have to admit, it ran through my mind that I might be taking the last photograph of those kids.

Great pix. Looking at the first and second pictures gave me a chill. I would not stand or sit where those two are.

Wonderful series. Yosemite is on my bucket list for sure, both as a climber and photographer.

It's a fabulous place. Did a brief overnighter there from San Fran while on a business trip 10 years ago. Only using a small sensor mega zoom camera back then but it's awesome scenery.

A return trip with my Pentax gear is on my bucket list.

Dynamic range I found was the really big challenge while down on the valley floor. Balancing shaded valley walls with a sunny sky can be a challenge which I particularly noticed with early morning shots. When I finally visit again, I hope the much superior dynamic range of a dslr using RAW files will solve the DR challenge.

Thanks! Yes, exactly - Glacier Point about 6am or so. #12, 14, 15 & 18 were taken there too.

I have another picture when the woman was standing on one foot in a yoga pose.

Thanks! I learned how to deal with Yosemite in the summer (get up around 5am and see the sites, take a nap in the heat of the day), but the next time I go, I want it to be in the fall or winter.

Yes! That's it exactly. The shadows are killers - hence my title "Ansel Adams I'm Not" . I was with family so took quick shots. I would love to go back and take my time and figure out where to be in the morning or afternoon. Still, a great place to be.

Wonderful photos! I have gained new found respect for the K-5 + 18-135 combo. I don't use my lens all that often, but seeing it used so well here makes me want to break mine out.

Maybe I will this weekend......

The first two images... well these folk are just insuring that no one can stand in front of them while they take their pictures, as is often the case at such viewpoints.
