A bit of fiery fun

Shutter speed was 22 seconds, bulb mode started and stopped while the sparkler sparkled.

Love it, Brian, it was worth your garden shed burning down afterwards!

Thanks everyone!

Fortunately nothing burned down, but the living room did end up smelling like a fireworks factory ran into a pepper roastery.

Very nice! See, you don't need photoshop to superimpose.

Thank you both!

Option two is a stiff wire or support poking through the backdrop and hidden directly behind the object. I had thought that might put the background too close and into 'firing range' so I opted to hang it so I could have more separation. My original idea was to have the background show up more, as in one of my test images shown below, but I ended up liking a larger shower of sparks. I'd probably opt for a hidden support if I did it again and damn the background to a raging inferno.

Note this old, scabby, dried up model was used as a stand-in before bringing on the fresher and curvier talent.

Yep. I just said that. There's a reason I don't photograph people. They tend to have feelings.

And you tend to set your subjects on fire. At least warn them in the model release!
