I have been trying to time high tide with sunset at this location. Today, just missed the tide by an hour. Will try again tomorrow.

Its a beautiful shot - I like the way the light hits the side of the house and the colors of the sunset with the hills in the background

Light is definitely good here. It is the forum scaling of images which is not doing justice to the images. Many are linking images which seem soft and really are not.

800px tall is quite low these days. Or 1200px wide.

Nice photo I personally found that the best time to take shots like this are at dead low tide because of the effect caused by the refection of light off the exposed wetlands and mud flats
When it comes to timing shots to the the movement of the tides it helps to know where you can find the time of the tide for the nearest port on a local Coast Guard or hydro-graphic website and the tide will vary by a few minutes either before or after that time in your area. As you may already know high and low tides are not the same time every day and the tide cycles advance almost an hour every day so trying to sync sunrise and sunset to the tides takes a bit of preparation work and a lot of luck

Great image.
I personally find the post on the RHS to be too bright (since that is where the light is falling), and a bit too much empty room behind the house. Any chance of rotating the camera to the left to move the post out of shot/close the gap at the back of the house?

Clarkey, thank you for your suggestions. Here is a shot from today. I was able to capture clouds, high tide and sunset: a trifecta.

Very much like the fine detail in the second shot.

The photos were taken on mud flats. One miss step and you are in knee deep mud. For this reason, I cannot move the camera to the left. Thank you for your comment.
