A strange sound when camera turned on or off.

A friend of mine bought a K2000 and it is absolutely pristine.... literally like brand new and has no issues other than this one. Every time the camera is turned on, it makes a sound as if the shutter has been tripped. That is not the case.... but that's what it sounds like. Could it be that as the camera is shut off, the mirror is locked up and then when it's turned on, the mirror drops back down?

Just a thought.

Anyone have any suggestions or solutions to the problem?

Probably just the dust removal sensor shake. Check the to see if Dust Removal at Power Up is enabled in the setup menu.

That's the durst removal feature. It's audible as a clunk sound on the older bodies as well as current entry-level bodies.
