Would a SB900 work on pentax bodies

Yes it will work, in manual power mode and auto thyristor mode. TTL modes won't work. I wouldn't expect you to have any triggering problems.

Yes, as jonby said, and you could take it off-camera and still manually remote control its power level with Cactus V6 radio triggers.
