Posted By: mecrox, 04-20-2014, 04:15 PM

Welcome to another round of Picture of the Week. This is edition, #311, covers 14 April - 28 April 2014 . POTW is a great spot to show off any shots you take in the upcoming week, or last week that you haven't processed until now. In other words, you can post your shots from this week AND last week.

Some rules:
1) No theme, just post your favorite pix.
2) 6 or less images per post just so the thread doesn't get too big.
3) Any Pentax or Samsung camera, film or digital.

The current host will invite a new host via Private Message (PM). If possible, the new thread will be linked to the previous one and the new thread will start between Noon EDT and 5PM EDT on Sunday. If the thread doesn't start, please contact bluestringer, Moderator via PM.

OK folks, over to you again!

It's been fine weather here and bluebell time. Woods where they grow are carpeted with bright blue, an amazing sight which only lasts for a couple of weeks before they fade. I guess it's our equivalent of the season of cherry blossom in Japan.

Nice, I love how it looks when the bluebells are thick. We get them around here in a few spots that must favor them. Thanks for hosting!

I took some photos last night at a concert held at the nearby university. It was a nice evening and some interesting music.
While it was still light there was a slackline competition and when it got dark the light-up hula hoops came out. I tried some long exposure handheld and got a few reasonable shots, considering.

Thanks for hosting mecrox. Three sections of Lake Bohinj, Slovenia. Vogel Ski Area, the lake trail, and a trail branching from Stara Fuzina past a goat and chicken farm. If anyone knows what breed of chicken this is, I'd certainly like to know.

Went for a walk to a nature preserve yesterday and today. Had a great time and got a few decent pics. Hope ya'll enjoy. The Red Tailed Hawk and the Great Horned Owl are live at the rescue center. They have been injured and are in rehab. They also have a Short Tailed Hawk and a Barred Owl there as well.

Faverolle perhaps? We saw two just like this with a clutch of hens while out walking the other day. Certainly a prince of poultry whatever it is

Thanks mecrox for hosting.

Last Saturday we had the occasion for a little walk in the city.

I'll start with the oddities I saw:

Gelber Luftballon - Zone

Wo bist Du?

These boots are made for walking

A few shots from my friend's wedding I was asked to cover on April 11th.

The happy couple seem to like them, so quite pleased with my first attempt.

Thanks for hosting mecrox.

First time in a few days I got out and had some good sunlight without loads of clouds, took off on my old Raleigh bike with a M50mm f1.7 and 30mm extension tube for some tiny flower shots. After a while removed it for some normal flowers too...think I got some pretty decent results...

Thistle blooming now, along with several others that just started recently. (without extension tube)

Patch of Coreopsis out at the main road. (Found out Lowes also has an almost identical flower named Jethro Tull Coreopsis)

Indian Paintbrush. Only a couple of individuals close enough to get to on the bicycle, a few miles up the road are some good sized patches.

Macro with the 30mm extension tube...

Crimson Clover detail. I'm trying to get these started here in the neighborhood, finally have a couple of very small patches with about a half dozen blooms but these are out at the highway

Venus Looking Glass that just started blooming in the past few days. Spider was incidental...

Taken a couple of days ago with the Vivitar 200mm, a female Bluebird poking her head out of the nesting box to look around.

Thanks for hosting mecrox. We took our annual Spring trek to the bluebonnet fields (just across town!). I think it's only a matter of time before these huge fields are claimed by developers, and soon we'll be seeing yet more warehouse construction But for now, we still enjoy the flowers, which were especially thick & fragrant this year! All taken with a K10D & Cosmicar A35-70/4 in fairly harsh mid-day sun.

This is a common sight around here in Spring. 70mm, tight crop:

A little from the Munich Underground - all DA 10-17. I am still in a stage of playing with this lens, sometimes using the effect, sometimes trying to minimize the effect.

Received a new (to me) lens today (F* 300 4.5)….. first couple of photos as I tried it out. Amazing sun set at home tonight….. a sea haze lit up like I haven't seen here before.

Wow, quite a lot of posts already. It's getting hard to keep up!

A very colourful set and I hope fun times from @mattb123, then Slovenia from @lukulele and it looks one heck of a place. Must be great walking country. Maybe some tasty trout in those lakes! @Alkazalsir has been out and about too. Looks like a fab reserve and I'm enjoying your pics of the yellow flowers and the hawk, particularly.

I love those oddities, @Clou. One of the pleasures of photography is starting to notice them, and usually they are everywhere. I guess life is pretty odd all round. And your second set using the 10-17mm fish-eye, interesting perspectives and very nice colours and contrast. It seems quite a lens. A keeper?

That's a wonderful wedding set, @Papa Lazarou, very lively and very funny and it really gets over that everyone was having a great time. The bride looked lovely! The second picture suggests she's pretty determined too ... Love the perspective in the last image, it just makes the shot.

Lovely wild flowers, @Paleo Pete. I hope it was a good trip out on your bike. About time I went along to a local patch which usually has lots of wildflowers. I haven't been there yet this year. The bird in your final image looks a bit surprised to see you! Your set-up with the extension tubes is very effective, I think.

Great blues and greens in your set of the bluebonnet fields, @paulh. Also fascinating to see them as I didn't know anything about these before. They must be quite a sight when one comes across a really big patch of them. I guess it's quite like the bluebells here? A short season, amazing patches of blue but it's over all too soon (in the case of bluebells, anyway). And it looks quite hot where you are already. It's isn't that warm here, at least today. I'm wearing a sweater and that's indoors.

Congrats on the F* 300 4.5, @noelpolar. If your two shots are anything to go by it must be an excellent lens - I hope so, anyway. It gets glowing comments in the lens database on this site. The colours are just fantastic in both images. The second image is a Wow - I'm not sure I've ever seen a sky like that with those deep, deep rosy hues in it. Amazing.

These two images feature a 1932 Ford three-window coupe. One image has a 1970 Plymouth Cuda in the background. They are from a cruise-in at a local restaurant.
