Welcome to Weekly Challenge #334 - SIMPLICITY

Thanks to hattifnatt for hosting the last challenge and to all who participated. Great photos. I hope this week's challenge does as well.

This week, theme is SIMPLICITY — as always, be imaginative and creative in your interpretation of the theme, and remember to have phun.

The fine print:

Every week, a new theme is picked and judged by the winner of the previous week.

The Challenge will run until midnight next Tuesday, November 25, 2015, whichever time zone you are in.

Rules
1. Post ONE photo (max 1024x1024).
2. The photo must portray an interpretation of the theme.
3. Post your single picture in this thread and explain what motivated you to take the picture and/or how you feel it represents the weekly theme (especially if it's not obvious).
4. The challenge is interactive. Any response is welcome.
5. The judge will pick the WINNERS and choose one of them to be the judge for the next week.
6. This challenge runs for 7 days plus an additional day for the judge to choose the winners.
7. Any Pentax (or Samsung DSLR) camera can be used.
8. Pictures can be from any time frame, not just within the week of the current theme.
9. In case the winner of a challenge is unable to become the judge for the next challenge, they will PM the #2 winner for that person to be the judge.

This is a hard Theme....for me anyway. Trying to decide what is "simple" and how to define it.
I chose this photo because of it's sentimental value and how simple life was while working at the south pole. The south pole sits on a plateau at 10,000 ft. Not much to do there except work. On our days off we would usually drink or watch a movie or play ping pong. One weekend(we only got one day off a week) me and a couple guys decided to ski 3 miles away from the base and sleep in a snow cave. That proved to be quite difficult since it was -20F and trying to sleep at that temp is very hard. I didn't get much sleep but I'll remember the experience for the rest of my life.

Here's one from my annual birthday ski with my friends a couple of years ago which is in mid May. Despite being late in the season we often have great skiing and fresh snow. This was taken during a snow squall that helped reduce the scene to only the basic elements. It seemed a natural image for minimal high key B&W.
