Ricoh Rikenon 55/1.4 (M42)

This is my favorite bokeh lens. It has also one additional bonus – it takes relatively sharp images wide open at infinity (on APS-C at least). So it is good choice for night cityscape photos. At f8 pictures are definitely sharp, but I the images from my K200D turned to dark. All the pictures below are wide open.

Intriguing! Could you post an image of it wide open at infinity?

As promised some wide open shots +/- at infinity. They are maybe not super sharp, but they were made without shake reduction at higher ISO with 1/15 - 1/30 exposure time (BTW shake reduction can work with this lens, as it covers K-mount contacts, but you need to scratch back of the lens, which is painted). Have to say, that the originals look sharper to me.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Can't you just tell the camera the focal length of the lens and it works automatically?

Some M42 lenses are too small to cover the entire K-mount - then the SR won't work. This is not a case for this one. Just one more sample.

He is confusing the need for electrical contact for Catch-in-Focus with SR.

Not at all. SR works regardless of electrical contact. Catch-in-focus requires the contacts to be shorted.

Well maybe on newer bodies it works this way. On my K100D and K200D if I do not have metal lens base on the contacts I get no possibility to add SR settings.

I suppose it is different. But in fact to know this one should dismount two copies and compare...

The Ricoh 55mm was made by Tomioka.

Auto Rikenon 55mm f1.4 (Tomioka)

In the US they were sold under the Sears brand.

Wow when it is really Tomioka, then I rate bokeh twice as good!
