Q7 + 06 for live music? Why not?

I often shoot live music commercially for a major Australian website, but this time I was just a punter in the crowd and chose to obey the rules rather than smuggle the good stuff in.
I am quite pleased with the results. There is a panorama shot with the 01 in THIS ALBUM, all the rest are with the 06 wide open.

Some examples:

Jagger swagger

Keith's still lovin' it

very impressive! did you shoot iso on auto (tav mode)? Looks like some shots required surprisingly low iso's...

Holy cow, these are great. E.g. IMGP1523 captures the light and detail perfectly.
I take my Q to my daughter's softball games because the lenses fit through the fence and I quite like the pics. I think the Q family keeps proving itself

I started in TAv, but blew quite a few highlights. The light was pretty consistent, so I switched to manual at f/2.8 and exposing for the faces (initially 1/125 and ISO 200, then 1/250 and ISO 400) and adjusted in post processing.

From the shooting angles, it looks like you had access to the pit. Pretty good score for such a big gig.

The white balance and skin tones are really well done in these shots, and the whole set on Flickr too. Great work.

Great photos! Lots of detail, sharpness, good colours, and very close to the stars! Looks like you had a fun concert, too! I saw them in Budapest some years ago

These are the best Q-shots I've seen. Nice work. And yes, the Q7/06 combination is well up for this kind of shooting.

Awesome shots! did you need to do significant cropping?

I had no access to the pit; these were all shot from my seat in the crowd. I was fortunate to acquire a very good spot
Very little cropping (or none) was required for most of the shots. White balance was pretty much SOOC (AWB), with only a few exceptions, and they were minor tweaks.

Amazing shots Sandy, just as amazing as the fact that Keith Richards is still alive.
