Pentax K-1 best selling DSLR in Scandinavia in May?

I don't know where to find total sales for Sweden or Scandinavia, but Cyberphoto is the biggest web company marketing photo gear here in Northern Europe, and they are kind enough to continuously report the 10 best selling DSLRs the last month. My guess is that this is quite representative of the whole DSLR market here. So K-1 is certainly making a big splash.

In comparison the K-3 and K-5 never reached higher than 3rd place.

How is K-1 doing in your place?

There is a very good reason why CIPA statistics are not broken down by nation and with finer characteristics than compact, DSLR and MILC. Camera manufacturing is still a competitive industry and no one wants their competitor to know exactly how well or poorly their products are selling.

Different retailers tend to support different brands with their sales efforts and not every camera is sold through a retailer, so you cannot extrapolate Cyberphoto's sales to the entire market with a high degree of accuracy. However, I found it interesting that a Sony A7 didn't make the top 10 list, according to many "experts" they are taking over the interchangeable lens camera market.

To be fair to the K-3 and K-5, more cameras in general were being sold when they were introduced. That still doesn't take away from the obvious fact that the launch of the K-1 has already been a success.

Their classification is usual, to say the least, if they include the Canon EOS M3 and Panasonic LUMIX GM5 and the Sony A6300 in the DSLR category, but even so, to have the K-1 beating all of these together is astounding.

Careful now... they have a history of sailing around the world and causing a bit of chaos when they get there.

It's a long row, and their M3s aren't waterproof.

The two largest shops in Norway don't list K-1 on their top seller lists.
At Japanphoto its no Pentax/Ricoh among the top 4.
At Scandinavianphoto its Ricoh Theta S at 16 place among the top 18 (they obviously list compacts there too)

Interesting that the K-1 and the D500 appear high in both sales listings. I imagine there were just as many frustrated D300 owners waiting for its successor as Pentax APS-C or film users waiting for the Full-frame Pentax.
