Tamron/Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 on K-01, input please?

Hey guys

I was looking into buying a fast tele-zoom for my K-01
(buying a 2nd Nikon body & since the 18-35 f1.8 isn't available for pentax yet, it'll be on the Nikon while the longer is, hopefully, covered by the K-01)

I looked into many threads about the issues when using the 70-200 with K-01

Any experience when using a Sigma or Tamron 70-200 with K-01?
Any success stories or at least explanation as to why focus doesn't work on these lenses with K-01?

thanks

With the first firmware my Sigma 70-200mm didn't focus well on the K-01. It does with newer firmware, but still isn't fast or anywhere near balance in combination.

Really? No issues in the beginning or anything?
You also mention that your K-01 is "full spectrum converted", can you please elaborate & tell me the firmware ver.?

The firmware is 1.03, and it has been since I got the 70-200 about a month or so ago. Full spectrum converted means that not only will it pick up visible light, but also ultraviolet and infrared light as well. I had the conversion done at Spencers Camera in Utah last year, and it is fun taking pictures with the proper filters on it. In full spectrum they look very close to normal, but there are definite difference in colors.

For me, this one was easy. The Tamron focuses much closer, and can shoot butterflies and such beautifully. Also, the image samples I've seen of the Sigma are quite good, but the Tamron renders nicer in my opinion.
