K-30: Interval shooting, timer is not working

So we have really nice thunder storms at this time of year. Iīve tried interval shooting to catch them at night, but canīt get timer to work. It's working right if I choose now option but with timer... nothing. Can someone try that too? I have firmware 1.05 and clock is set 24h mode. Thanks.

When you select "Start Interval" in the menu does it give you the option to set the time? Also, what mode is the camera in?

Yes, when you choose "Start Interval", make sure that you press the shutter for the first one to begin the operation. It continues on based on your settings.

After setting time, do you press "Start shooting" and then press the shutter release?

Yes. There is Interval Shooting Standby, remaining shots count and interval timing after that.

Most of the interval shooting I've done was Interval Movies. I think it's probably one of the most confusing things to get right on the K-30, but part of that is the infrequency that I've done it, and probably not the clearest instructions in the book. I was looking in the manual and can't figure out why it's not working for you. Unfortunately my K-30 is at Pentax service right now so I can't try to duplicate it.

Hi folks,

I cannot get the interval shooting to work either. Once the settings are 30 sec interval, 900 shots, now, I press Ok to Start Shooting. The timer and # shots appear at the bottom of the display. No matter how I press the shutter button the first shot doesn't happen. Tried pressing the shutter 1/2 way to focus then fully but still no shot. Checked the manual and I am following the steps.

Hope you can help.

Thanks,

Never mind. Switched to Manual focus from AF.S and it started fine.

From my understanding it ONLY works with manual focus selected. Glad you figured it out.
