transfer photos from K50 to excite tablet

I would like to view my pictures from my Pentax K50 on my excite tablet when i am out camping away from internet. I use o.t.g. cord to connect to the tablet but my tablet won't recognize the camera. Do I need a App to do this ?

You need a Mobi Eye-Fi SD card. There is no other way I'm aware of.

Yup, an SD card with wi-fi (not necessarily EyeFi) is the way to go. The latest K-S2 has finally gotten its own built-in wireless.

Does the K50 support anything besides EyeFi?

I have never been able to get my Eye-Fi chip to do anything...well except to store images!

I take the old fashioned route: Just pull the chip physically out of the camera and put it into the tablet. Takes seconds and is a lot less aggravating than trying to get the chip to talk to the computer.

Since the excite is a microSD you'd have to take the extra step of taking it out of the full size SD adapter too.

I've never tried, but I think if your tablet supports OTG and pendrives, then it should support your K-50 in MSC USB mode. Some android devices supports USB OTG, but doesen't supports pendrives. (Just mouse and keyboard.)

Micro SD failures in cameras seem common, not sure I would try that. I was in that boat with EyeFi too but finally got mine working. I'm not sure but I think I want following the instructions EXACTLY ... do precisely what it says and double check yourself maybe it will work.

Most wireless cards will work with just about any device. The K-50 has some native eye-fi functionality, but plenty of other cards can be used for file transfer/viewing as well.

Whoops... I forgot the camera chord is non standard. I don't have a way to connect the large standard USB end on the camera chord to my Android phone, I've never needed an adapter, typically I have the right cable.
