Not convinced it has DC or WR yet, but it wouldn't deter me from buying if it didn't. I'm waiting for the official announcement.
WIthout DC and WR I'm skipping on this lens :x I can live without DC but no WR kind of defeats the purpose

This lens looks excellent. This would definitely be my dream travel lens. If it were 49 mm filter threads, DC and WR that would all be icing on the cake. I was starting to be tempted by the Fuji X-E1(E2) mostly for the travel light option with their 18-55 2.8-4.0 zoom. However, this new limited zoom, especially on my K-01, or possibly even on a new mirrorless body definitely keeps me "home and happy" with Pentax! Also makes it a much more travel friendly option just to take it along on the DSLR. That new K3 is a thing of beauty!

DA limited 20-40 f/2.8-4 image

WR
DC motor
Not sure about compatible for FF camera but maybe possible.
Also It's really small as FA limited 31mm

I know it is highly subjective, but I would much prefer a wider lens as a travel option. When I go out with my kit lens it is usually pegged at the 18mm end and i would love a couple more mm.
Now this + the 15mm may be a potent travel kit.

The "Takumar" style of the Zoom ring is very nice!
I think those are gorgeous, but why would I buy this instead of the DA*16-50?
It will be interesting. Maybe put one of these on my "soon-to-be-retired" K5 and use it as a walk around?

Hmmm..definitely "sexy-time"

Someone at Ricoh/Pentax is getting it right playing to the Pentax faithful.

the zoom ring reminds me of the takumar design... But it doesn´t work with the modern design of the limiteds

Maybe because it won't selfdestruct?

True. I have two DA* 16-50 lenses, and I am waiting for the failure of at least one.

The image angle prevents any insight on whether there's the red o-ring for weather sealing but perhaps you have some other confirmation? Same with DC, can't see the letters in these images.

I can see a liitle red tint od that red O ring. Ps. In other thread there was a patent for 20-40/2.8-4 DC WR limited lens. So it might be from that.

Well this looks like a perfect lens. Can we sell all other lenses in this range and just buy this one? Or should we keep FA31mm?
It seems to me - I will sell FA*24/2, F28/2.8 and DA40/2.8

I get that it's compact, and WR, but the range and speed are powerful limitations for me. I could have seen myself replacing the DA21 and DA40 with this, but not at f4.

Darn.

Nice that Ricoh summoned this lens at last, I wish it is straight f2.8 instead. I love the Takumar design and wow, look at the size! Will it have the 49mm filter thread? :-)
