Film duplicator also officially announced

The Film Duplicator has been officially announced, too. It's available in late May for $1200. I can't find an English announcement, but here is a Japanese website for it.

??????????????PENTAX FILM DUPLICATOR?????RICOH IMAGING

The price depends on where you live or buy. The official Pentax store is now selling it for 119,500 yen, which is equivalent for $1200 in the current exchange rates.

I wonder when (or if) we'll see an announcement in other regions. It's possible that this accessory will only be sold in Japan as that's where Pentax is the most popular.

I'm afraid you're correct.

Yup. I don't know why it is. You have to buy a mount holder for $120 if you copy medium format films. You don't need it for 35mm films.

I hope that price is a typo. Unless it loads my film, edits my files, and makes coffee, that's ridiculous (in my humble opinion).

For $1200, it ought to come with a flash and a lens.

It's about what you'd expect to pay for a 645 bellows unit.

I wonder if Cameralensrentals.com will get one? It's the sort of thing I would pay $100 to rent for a week.

I agree that it's good to see Ricoh bringing out new items, but at that price point, I'm out.

Yes, at that price point, there are other options. Any word yet on how they address the orange mask of C41 negatives?

$1200 with no optics, electronics, or software? Am I missing something? Was really looking forward to this. :/

If you look at prices of bellows units for medium format cameras, be it the old 6x7 bellows for Pentax 67, or the ones for Rollei and Hasselbald, you will see that prices are in that magnitude.

But bellows for 35mm cameras form third party manifacturer are cheap on e-bay, so it shouldn't be a problem for who was exepcting this thing hoping for a low price.
